We exited Burma on Sunday 19th Feb and did the immigration run in reverse. All went very straightforwardly and Burma immigration gave us back our passports as agreed! Again there was lots of boat climbing and balancing acts with our rucksacks, we are becoming pros at that now and are thinking about joining a circus out here to make some extra cash! Mission accomplished…new 15 day visa for the rest of Thailand! Result. After returning to Thailand we headed on a full day on the bus to Krabi town…a bus that leaked in the rain we had and Andrew had to make a makeshift slide / rain detour contraption above our bus seat to keep us dry…character building!! Krabi town isn't really worth staying in, but as we arrived there late we spent the night of the 19th Feb there, in a lush hotel we found - air con and duvets - the excitement!!!

Krabi is a good connection point for beaches in the Krabi province so on Monday 20th Feb we got the 45 min boat round the bay to Ao Nang beach and area. We arrived and found it really hard to find somewhere not really expensive in Ao Nang, so I waited with the bags while Andrew went on a hunt! Stayed in a lovely place in Ao Nang called 'Easy room' and once again we had air con and a duvet….spoilt! We spent one night in Ao Nang, I went for another run along the beach there that evening and got caught in a thunder and lightening and rain storm eeek! Ao Nang beach is quite nice and down one end there are a mass on monkeys in the trees, very tame and waiting for food from tourists! We saw one man feeding a monkey a bottle of coke! It must love the sugar ha! On Tuesday 21st we headed from Ao Nang around the bay again to the beach of Ton Sai. Ton Sai island was amazing and the area is very popular with rock climbers! It is a small wee island surrounded by massive vast rocks with lots of keen climbers taking on the challenge of climbing them. We had had a tip from a fellow traveler to stay in 'Mambo' on the beach in Ton Sai, so we did - a little wooden hut just up from the beach, open bathroom, monkeys climbing above the trees and occasionally jumping on the tin roof…again no sink in the bathroom but we did have a door this time so things are on the up!! We spent 2 nights on Ton Sai and really enjoyed it., It is 5 mins on a boat (or 15 in a kayak as we did it) over to Railay beach which is quite famous in the Krabi region…but Ton Sai is cheaper to stay on so we did it that way! Turned out after seeing Railay beach, although it was beautiful we were glad we stayed on Ton Sai as at night we could sit in the bar on the beach and watch the rock climbers taking on the big rocks….amazing! Andrew did a half day rock climbing on Wed 22nd Feb over at Diamond Cave on Railay beach and absolutely loved it! He learnt lots and I got some great photos. It looked quite though so I was glad I was just the photographer that day ha!! The instructor 'Tong' was hilarious and made it a really good day.

So tomorrow we leave Ton Sai and head to Ko Phi Phi via boat which is also supposed to be stunning.

Arriving on the islands in Thailand is great as you arrive off a little boat and have to walk ashore with your bags…so you have to remember to wear a dress or shorts and flip flops on traveling days here!!
