We spent 3 nights on the island of Ko Samet which is only a few hours from Bangkok. Arriving at Ko Samet we had had a few tips from Simon and Kirsty who we met in Fiji, and so we saved on a taxi cost and trekked to accommodation with our rucksacks in the heat…the things you will do to save a few pounds!! We stayed in a nice bungalow hut and enjoyed a few relaxed days here. The island has some really nice bards and places to eat so that's pretty much what we did for the 3 nights here! We hired a scooter for 24 hours too - but top tip - Ko Samet roads are awful! Really bumpy and dusty and non scooter friendly!! Was a bit tricky with the scooter but we were able to explore the whole island quite quickly as its only small, had lunch one day at a lush resort on decking overlooking the water, really nice. We had a few banking problems here, Halifax managed to block both our cards and so we had a few annoying and slow skype calls to Halifax to try and sort that out. Got it sorted in the end but we have a feeling it may happen again! We are off to Ko Tao tomorrow (Saturday) which involves a boat, bus to Bangkok, then overnight bus to the port - then boat to the island, not looking forward to the journey but we are really looking forward to getting to Ko Tao as we have heard really good things about it.
