So on Monday 6th Feb we left Bangkok and headed for Pak Chong on the bus; the town near to Khao Yai National Park. We had pre booked to stay at the 'Greenleaf' guesthouse who we had heard do the best tours of the park, so they came and picked us up from the bus which was handy. We stayed there for 2 nights in a lovely wee hut, quite hot in there but there was fan so we positioned it well at night and managed fine!

On the Tuesday 7 Feb we had an amazing day doing a full day tour of the National Park! We had a nice wee group of people - us two, our guide 'Puma' (!!), Kieron a guy from Taiwan and a lovely couple called Gregg and Nancy from New York who we will definitely visit if we ever go there. We were there all day, until dark and saw the biggest range of animals we could have hoped for and learnt lots! In total throughout the day we saw; Great hornbill, bulbul, hanging parrot, macaque, giant tree squirrel, Indian roller, monitor lizard, sambar deer, barking deer, serpent eagle, long horn spider, red headed trogan, male and female elephant, white handed gibbon, golden web spider, black gibbon, common bronze snake, wreath hornbill, drongo, chestnut headed bee eater, osprey, oriental pied hornbill, lapwing, Chinese pond herron and a white throated kingfisher - what a list eh??!! We thoroughly enjoyed it. I really loved seeing the white handed gibbons swinging so effortlessly in the trees and searching for and finding a massive male wild elephant was very exciting but also a bit scary! He got aggravated at one point and we all were starting to leg it, but he calmed down again and all was ok again! We stood listening to him tear apart trees as he ate them, was absolutely amazing to see him in the wild like that.

We also got to see the waterfall from the film The Beach which was pretty cool to see. Looked very nice, but you couldn't get down to it so couldn't have a swim.

Tomorrow we leave, back to Bangkok to change and head to our first island, Kho Samet, cant wait!
