Okay, so I was due to head to South America once Andrew returned to Asia, but I didnt! While in Fiji, after he left I spoke with STA and managed to get my flights changed and go and spend my last 2 months travelling with him. After an amazing 2 weeks together I really didnt want to head off solo again and Andrew is due to now travel south thailand and the islands and then hit malaysia, all areas I didnt manage to see while I was in south east asia. And really wants to travel south america too, so we decided we will do that together in a year or two, and enjoy our time together now! Frustatingly, with the weather in Fiji and the flights being cancelled and delayed etc, I had 3 days in Fiji just waiting to fly out to meet And, It was a slow few days as the weather wasnt great and my flight time was moved back and further back a few times. I was due to reach Andrew in Bangkok on my birthday, 31st Jan, but ended up in limbo in Sydney on my birthday and flying my birthday night.
However Air Pacific did pay for me to have a hotel room for the day on my bday, due to the delays and so I got a fancy hotel and fed for free there which was bonus and helped make up for the delays! I was flying the night of my bday and so drank as much wine for free that night too haha!!! I arrived in Bangkok 3am on 1st Feb and got a taxt from the airport into Bangkok centre to meet And. Irritatingly the taxi driver dropped me off in the worng place so I was walking around for half an hour at 3am in Bangkok trying to find Ands hotel! Did eventually find it and And was waiting patiently in thje lobby with a beer ready for me! A big relief for both of us to back together after thinking a few days before it would be 9 months before we would be.
We went off to Bridge on the River Kwai town for a few days (see separate blog) and then came back to Bagnkok for a night or two, to meet my freind Kerry from Cardiff and Lucy and Laura. The 5 of us went out for a nice meal and a few drinks in Bangkok and it was so so lovely to see Kerry! Kerry took me to London airport when I left on 18th October and so that was an emotional time for us both, so was great to see Kerry again under really happy circumstances! Kerry always makes me smile and laugh and so it was great night!
We also visited Bangkok zoo while here which was actually quite good and we got to see lots and feed some giraffes!
We had a funny nights accommodation here though - we stayed near Kho San Road, on Rambuttri street and one of our rooms one night was really liud, lots of music. Andrew went to the window to investigate and found that our bedroom window opened out into a night club! Honestly! So we didnt get much sleep that night, unreal!!
