Woken up at 7am by a cockerel going crazy! Nick looked up Beaurepairs opening hours and decided to shoot into Port Lincoln and replace the flat tyre so that we could secure it back on the van rather then buy it mid trip. I sat and read with my coffee while he was gone but soon felt guilty and thought I'd better get into gear and pack up! Had a shower and then began breakfast. I'm not as nice as Nick and only offer a limited range so it was all done and dusted pretty quickly. Nick got back, fitted the tyre, packed up the van and we were on the road by 10am. The drive to Cowell was uneventful, although my great map reading skills took us through the centre of Port Lincoln instead of bypassing it as I looked at a magazine at a crucial point!! We had planned to stop at a few bays along the way but the wind was really strong and coming straight off the coast. We reached Cowell around 1230 and settled into a lovely big site. Coffee and Grandma's Christmas cake while setting up and then Nick made lunch. We walked the main street of the town and bought an ice cream each, then went down to the jetty and took a boardwalk through the mangroves. Walking back, we decided on a shandy at the Franklin Harbour Hotel and they were cooking a huge pig on a spit on the side walk - $12 a plate - shame we are on a budget! Took our books to the playground and read for an hour before heading back to the van. I only had a few chapters of my book to read so sat outside and polished it off. Meanwhile, Nick made me a coffee then cheese and wine - there are advantages to being a slow reader! He also made dinner, did the washing up and entertained the kids while I watched MKR - I love unemployment on the road!
