Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
We had a full, beautiful and tiring day in Wurzburg and Rothenburg. We arrived in Wurzburg around breakfast time. We took the optional tour to Rothenburg. The 1st part was about an hour drive along the "Romantic Road" dotted with small villages along the way. The town of Rothenburg itself is the most "German-looking" town we have been to - full of half-timbered housed and surround by an imposing wall. Lunch was included: potato soup, bratwurst, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, beer/wine, and apple strudel - kinda German. After lunch, Bonnie and Carole wanted to do some shopping. It sounded like torture to Craig and me. We decided to do something less torturous - we went to the Medieval Torture Museum. It was full of items such as the rack and the Iron Maiden. About an hour of that was more than enough. When we got back to Wurzburg we took a tour of the Prince-Bishop's Residenz Palace. We had no idea what to expect. When we drove up we saw a palace that is even bigger then Versailles. The inside was decorated with amazing frescos and tapestries. By now we were all tired and headed back to the ship.
