Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
Four years ago when we did the around South America cruise, I hired a guide in Rio for a 2 day tour for a small group of 10. The guide, Rafa Torres who has a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor, was excellent. We had continued to stay in touch and when I told him we were going to Buenos Aires he said he knew BA very well and would come down and give us a tour. I normally don't like to organize tours for more than 12 but since he was going to go to the expense of coming all the way to BA, I organized 3 groups of 12 with Rafa, his friend Marcone who we also know, and a third guide. They met us at the cruise terminal where we split into the 3 groups. We all visited the same spots but on a different schedule so it was not a group of 36. Rafa takes you to the tourist spots but also likes to go to the areas that locals go to get a better flavor of the city. Of course, we had to go to the Recoleta where Evita is interred. We stopped for "lunch" at the La Brigada restaurant which Rafa says has the best steak in BA. I can't compare it to any others in town, but everyone at our table said it was the best steak they have ever had. After lunch we went to the eclectic La Boca neighborhood, filled with restaurants, tango dancers, and colorful buildings. In all, it was memorable day made all the better by seeing our friend Rafa again.
