Wild Waves

We met up with Corey's good friends the Earlys today. Corey and Jamie have been best friends since 3rd grade. We spent the day in the pool at the house they rented. Their beach house is called "Lost Shaker of Salt" after the lyric from Jimmy Buffet. We played pool volleyball for hours while Jamey's little boy Cooper and his brother's little girl Caroline took their naps.

We all ventured together to the beach. The surf was really rough from the combination of Hanna and Ike. It's amazing that a storm that far away can affect the beaches in North Carolina!

Afterwards, we picked up steamed crabs and shrimp for everyone. Corey has been looking forward to this meal for quite a while! I learned the proper method for eating a steamed crab (they come whole and you have to pull the top of the shell and legs off). It was pretty fun, but a lot of work for a little bit of meat!
