The weather was stunning today, so I was able to sit out in the sun to catch some rays before the next cold spell sweeps in. My friends property is deep in the countryside, and as I don't have a car I decided to go for a walk. Carol had mentioned they sometimes walk a circuit near by. No one was around so at the tiny white spired church I turned left, walking and talking on my mobile. I walked for about an hour and a half solid! Across two wooden bridges, past four or five ranches and through some woods. I even had two dogs chase me! I was saying to my friend on the phone, 'I hope there's a fence, I hope there's a fence!' Well, thank goodness there was, otherwise I might have been mince meat. At the fifth ranch, called 'Cactus Flower Ranch' I mentioned to my friend, that perhaps I'd gone the wrong way at the church. I called up Carol, and sure enough I should have turned right, not left. So I had to retrace my steps and fasten my pace to make it back before dark. I ended up chatting to some kids and their mum. They wondered what I was doing walking. I don't think many people walk for pleasure here, so, I guess me walking alone seemed unusual.
I got back in time to eat a quick snack before Carol and I headed to Tyler. She'd been invited to bring a guest to the dress rehearsal of 'Rent' at the Liberty Theatre, Tyler. Things were running slightly behind, so we were able to chat with the Ops Director and her sister in Jake's (next door) over cocktails and warm Brie with candied pecans and fruit. The show was good, especially considering it's community theatre with volunteer actors. Dustin Simington who played Roger was the standout act, holding the stage with his acting, dancing and singing. Rent is not an easy show to watch. The subject is gritty, but definitely gives food for thought.

William We just were passing your entrance and a big beautiful bovine was "ducking" back into the woods across the street from you. We were not sure if it was yours. Just thought we should share. What a gorgeous place to live!!!
