Another excuse to warm up. The hotel cocktail bar seemed like a good place to start, especially as it's Friday night! I've enjoyed supping my two caipirinha whilst Sky-ping UK. Hickkkk! Tomorrow I catch a 620am train to New York Penn where I have 30 minutes to connect to a Niagara Falls NY bound train. Wish me luck!

The yellow route took in Downtown, red route more the cultural sites. This is my kinda town. Love the tree lined esplanades and classic architecture. Saw Capitol Hill, White House, the museums, Chinatown, parks, waterways, Watergate, Georgetown. Had a stop over at Union Station to refuel and defrost. A yummy mega-Santa Fe salad at Chop T and hot cup of coffee!

I rode top deck on the yellow route for 2 hours. I'll post a series of blogs as I can't load photos in album. Technically-challenged with this Apple gadget!

After a cup of Starbucks coffee in the hotel lobby I ventured out for my first day of solo adventure. I thought I'd take in some culture first. Well it was by chance really as the Portrait Gallery was by the tour bus stop, so it made sense to take in some culture, viewing some portrait art and American art. My friend Sandy texted this morning asking if it was cold here in DC. I replied 'no, it's ok'. Mind you I was in the hotel. Boy was I wrong it's freezing tod...

The sun came out after lunch so Rob and I had some great views of DC as we came back into the city. I caught my first sight of the White House. What a great day. I'm shattered though! So early to bed to prepare for a real groquel day around DC.
