Trying not to get bashful whilst posing in the bar. Rudie that is, not me! As has become my tradition I'm trialling the mojito... it's the Miami cocktail of choice after all. The bartender here at the Sheraton MIA has passed the test. Just the right amount of sugar, mint and lime.

I've spent the day worshipping the sun. Up from 3 hours to 5 hours today. It was absolutely beautiful. So beautiful I took a dip to cool off. I pretty much had the pool area to myself, although the bird life is a bit cheeky. My lunch had been delivered but I'd forgotten to get a receipt and so went to find the waiter. When I came back the birds had scattered my chips all over the place. I wasn't gone long. They were quick off the mark! I ate the food anyway... just took off the top layer. My next mistake was to throw the chips on the path for the birds. Word got round and loads of seagulls, doves and other birds joined the party! I could see a lady chuckling to herself nearby! It was funny.

The large iguana made an appearance late afternoon. I think he must nest near the bar end of the pool area by the creek. I took a walk to see if I could spot any alligators (rather than just pairs of eyes above the water). I guess they come out after dark. Still there's always tomorrow.

I've been trying to find out if the duty free shops will be open at Miami Airport tomorrow. My investigations didn't help, so I've ordered on-line. In theory my order should be delivered to the gate. I'm getting ready to check-in online as well.

It's already Christmas in the UK. A few more hours to go in the US. I wish everyone a fabulous Christmas. May Santa be good to you. Enjoy your turkey or nut roast. Have a G&T for me!
