Thursday, I sunbathed briefly by the hotel pool (in between large clouds) and then went in search of a post office. I walked a long way down Washington Avenue. Five blocks is a long way here in Miami (as I mentioned in a previous post). The building is a bit jaded but fancy. A mural on the inside wall and a fancy ceiling. As a result of the walk I found a great organic French cafe, where I had an avocado, sprouts, Monterrey Jack cheese crepe with spinach leaf salad. After walking all the way back to Lincoln Road I caught the 120 bus North. I'd looked up on web that it went all the way to Aventura. Well after around 25 minutes we turn off and enter a beautiful beach car park that looks like a Marina and then turn back in the direction we came. I was the only passenger left and asked the driver if we were headed to Aventura Mall. 'No!' Not all the 120s go that way. So I hopped off at Bal Harbour, crossed the highway and waited in the sun for the right 120 (the beach max route). What a beautiful route, across causeways, past stunning buildings and complexes such as Trump Towers. After around an hour and a half I arrived at Aventura Mall. I stayed for 3 hours or so, even stopping at the Cheesecake Factory for sweetcorn tomales before walking to a supermarket I'd spotted nearby (relatively speaking, but not easy to access on foot). I finally found a small portioned salad, which I promptly bought to make up a picnic. It was dark by now and I didn't really know where to catch the bus, but I followed the crowd, asked a few people and was able to catch the right one all the way back to Miami South Beach.
