Blummin early wake up, bus at 7. Driver running late tho so had a little delay in getting going. Headed along the Amalfi coast. Yet another UNESCO site, they love them! Could see why tho. stunning scenery all along and again some really windy roads. Had an excellent driver who just ploughed through and made all the cars reverse for us. Stopped in Amalfi and had a while to look around, not a very big town but good to see. Explored up the main street and had a little shop, bought some jewellery and a bag. Also went on a hunt for a pharmacy, have nice rash on my legs around my mossie bites so thought I'd see what they suggest. Found some aloe vera gel, 10 50 euros! Seemed to soothe the itching for while. Walked along the sea front and found a shop selling English mags so bought a couple. Can't live without the gossip! Was an amazing shop, books and mags piled high the owner was barely visible behind the gap he'd made for the till. Only a narrow pathway between the books. Headed back for the bus and went up the mountain to Ravello. Wagner? said it was the closest place to heaven on earth and inspired him. If i had thought the roads were bad along the coast they were nothing compared to the way up. Hairpin turns a car would have trouble with were taken with ease by Mariano the driver. Kept giving rounds of applause and many 'bravo Mariano's' were said! Got to the town and was indeed beautiful not quite up to the quote however. A nice bibbly little place to wander about tho. Had a big church with an amazing pulpit in, incredibly ornate with mosaics. one of the most remarkable sights of the trip so far. back on the bus and this time headed for Rome. arrived about 4 and went to room. as I had feared was on a top bunk. Couldn't manage them at the mo with the leg so went to reception to swap. They were very good and let me move. Settled in and went to do washing. Another palava, not washing powder at the site and supermarket only had big boxes. Some girls were really kind and let me have a bit of theirs. Put washing in and waited for it to finish. still damp after being in washer for 50 mins so had clothes hanging all over room! Went for dinner alone about 7 and was in bed by 9 ready to sleep at 10.
