Watched the world cup final in the camp bar. The only Englishman in the German bar, still everyone was was in good spirits especially as Germany won. Torrential rain again and I managed to slip up in the mud... very dirty! Definitely looking forward to some sun.

Arrived last night at a small Weingut Stellplatz called Helmut Schreoder, only 10 spaces and again very reasonable about €12/night incl electric and showers. The town, again very picturesque and it's their weinfest, we keep finding them! Walked to Maikhammer in the afternoon, it's really hot at the moment (32ish). Left Nierstein early and drove to Oppenheim. Lesley had a walk around the town planned from the info in our 'back roads of Germany' book. After that we planned to move on following the Deutsche Weinstrasse, well, you'll never guess what happened... programmed the Satnav for Wachenheim and was guided to the sweetest little village, which, unfortunately was the wrong Wachenheim. Started raining last night. Still raining this morning and very hard at that. Slobbed out in the van until about 3pm then went walking towards the town. Got caught in a shower but it was good to be out. Bella needed some off lead time. The Weingut owner told us it would rain again tomorrow so we decided to stay an extra night. At least if the rain blows through we can dry things out before moving on. Luckily there's a glass or two nearby.

Arrived at Weingut Gehring in Nierstein. Nice stellplatz with another lovely view and only €10/night inc electric, had to pay €1 for a hot shower. Went for a walk into the town and we had huge ice cream sundae's. Lesley's was 'aftereight' and mine 'nut-toffee'. A lovely day enjoying the sights, unfortunately I lost my new tooth in a supermarket car park, by the time we returned it had been destroyed by a car typical!
