Took a day out of our busy schedule and made time for a relaxing day. Went first to Heidenfhart for a walk along the river and to suss out the campsite there. The site was quite basic, some electrical outlets but the toilet/shower block had seen better days. We decided that it was not for us. After a good walk along the river we moved up into the hills to escape the oppressive heat. Thunderstorms had been forecast and although the sky grew a little threatening, no rain ensued just stifling heat and humidity. Drove to Schwarbenheim in the Selz region and parked at a shaded parking area especially for campervans. From there we walked into the town following signs for Margareten Hof a place recommended to us by Bob and Birgitt. We stopped there for lunch and had a fabulous meal, a little expensive but worth every Euro. We started with a glass of wine of course, Lesley choosing the Burgunder Trocken and I had the Riesling Trocken Lesley chose the Carpaccio of Beef (really tender, thinly sliced raw Beef, with sliced mushrooms in olive oil and lemon juice) to start, followed by the Lachscrepes (smoked salmon with micro herbs and a dill sauce all wrapped in a crepe). I chose the fixed menu of the day which was the Lachscrepe to start followed by a Raspberry sorbet with champagne then saddle of lamb the fried potatoes and green beans then for dessert we shared a peach mousse with a peach liqueur jelly. Yum ! Of course we had to have another glass of wine this time a Chardonney Trocken for Lesley and a Silvaner Trocken for me. We finished with a really strong espresso each, worth every cent of the €78.30 (£62.03) Now for a quiet evening in before we set off to pastures new tomorrow.
