As you can see by the photograph the weather was beginning to turn for the worse. We were going to have a walk around the old quarter of Koblenz but decided to carry on driving (just as the rain was doing). Again stunning views, schloss (castles) at every turn pity the weather was against us. Sorry Koblenz catch you another time. Crossed the Rhine and started our drive back down towards Mainz. Did a detour into the Lahn valley to see if there was anywhere we fancied, due to a satnav malfunction we were guided up a very steep narrow track with a sheer drop on one side and near the top were told we'd reached our destination, that wasn't fun and neither was was going back down. The campsites we saw were quite cramped and very busy so back to the Rhine we go, note to self... don't look for a campsite on a weekend. Driving south we were running out of options and decided to wild camp for the night. I picked the next decent sized pull in, we were about 40 yards off the road and about 10 from the water. The rain was beginning to ease so we tried to take Bella out for a walk by the river... well she was having none of it flatly refusing to leave the dry confines of the van! We could faintly hear music playing, Lesley and I decided to investigate. Having tucked Bella in and with the rain subsiding we headed towards the noise. What we found was a bit of a treat, a weinfest in fully flow complete with Oompah band, beer, wine and food tents and a projector showing the football... Result!
