Bus journey to Hue was uneventful and pretty short in the grand scheme of things. We found a hotel straight away, dumped our bags and had a wander round town. The bus dropped us right outside a hotel and we decided to go in as we were both so tired and cranky. We dropped our bags and went in search of food. The beach is about 2km away, and is nice apparently but as it was still quite windy we decided we'd try and find a hotel with a pool that we could sneak into. I absolutely love Hoi An!! Landed in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City at about 6:30 at night after a nice airconditioned flight!! I had read in my lonely planet that the taxi drivers really try to rip you off and they will tell you a hotel has closed down so they can take you somewhere where they get comission. So when we got outside sure enough they tried to charge us $25 for a taxi ride to a hotel i had picked from the book, and also that the hotel had closed down! We got them down to $15 dollar...

Again the taxi driver at the station tried to get us to go to a hotel that his friend owned but i had found the Rainbow hotel in our lonely planet which was apparently in the middle of the town and so i made him take us there. He drove us to another hotel and because his english wasnt very good got a receptionist to come out and made her tell us that all the hotels in this area were very expensive and full up, and the place he was suggesting was really nice.
