Bus journey to Hue was uneventful and pretty short in the grand scheme of things. We found a hotel straight away, dumped our bags and had a wander round town. Its getting colder the further North we get so we decided to have a curry to warm ourselves up. The restaurant is run by an indian guy so it was good. popodoms and everything.
We went to the Citadel the next day which is the only thing to do in hue really, and all we had time for a any rate. It was nice and quite pretty but everywhere seems a bit tame after ankor wat...also there was apparently the forbidden purple city which did not turn out to be purple at all which was a massive disappointment.
We had a night train booked for 4pm which got us into Hanoi (capital) at 4am. The train was fine as ever, except people kept coming into our cabin to stare at us. literally they would walk in stare at us and then leave again. One woman with a baby actually came and sat on gemma's bed. we thought she was in one of the bunks in our cabin but she wasn't. It was very strange
