Our penultimate port in Chile. There’s not really much here. We grabbed a taxi to go to La Serena which is supposed to be a nice seaside resort. It was OK. We went to the main square, Plaza de Armas. There were stalls around two sides of the square selling various tourist stuff. We went into the La Serena cathedral. Past the court house and a couple of churches.
We visited a Walmart albeit under a different name. Rob and Linda sat in the Plaza while Barbara and I wandered through the shopping streets. Back in Coquimbo, the town had woken up and was much livelier. We just went back to the ship. Not the best port we’ve visited.
This evening we had a ‘half way through’ party. It was held in both of the mid-ship pools. Ours was in the Crystal Pool and the roof has been opened. I guess it won’t now be closed until we leave the Caribbean. I spoke to the Deputy Captain and some of the ents team. I also managed a couple of drinks!!!
We were rubbish in the sports quiz and didn’t bother with the Syndicate Quiz.
FWIW we pass through the Panama Canal on February 15. We’re still not sure if we’re going through the original canal or the new one. We’re all hoping for the new one. So look on the P&O website for the webcam to find out.
