We woke up and were ready for breakfast at 7:30. Then we checked the time again and realised we were actually an hour early! Doh!
I think this is my fourth visit to this particular island. This time around Rob, Linda, Barbara and I had booked a hotel day at the Bay Gardens Hotel in Rodney Bay. The taxi picked us up from the cruise port and drove us to the hotel. We passed the hotel I stayed in way back in the 90's. It had been raining before the ship arrived and was damp on and off until about 13:30. We had vouchers for lunch, four drinks and a spa treatment. Barbara doesn't do massages, so I had a 40 minute one instead!
We all had a burger and fries followed by flambeed bananas and ice cream for lunch. After lunch we just sat in the sun until it was time to go back to the ship. We saw some of the crew there, including Caroline, one of the Entertainment Hosts. That's what P&O renamed their entertainment team members a few years back. I hate the name, it makes them sound like they work in a brothel!
When we got back on board, we were lucky to find two free machines in the launderette, so our washing was done too. A good and productive day.
Scott, one of the ents team from our last two long cruises boarded yesterday in Barbados as a passenger. He becomes deputy Entertainment Manager on the next cruise. Luke, his boyfriend has moved in with him leaving his old cabin mate, Jayson, the other boy dancer alone in his cabin. It's Jayson's 21st birthday today. He's probably one of the dimmest people I've ever met! After dinner it was the tropical night party by the Riviera Pool. Scott and Luke were there and it was great to see Scott again. Shaun Wallace, the Dark Destroyer from the Chase, also got on in Barbados and was walking by the Riviera Pool. He knows Scott from previous cruises and Yvonne had her photo taken with him. He's very tall and very friendly.
There was no quiz in Champion's tonight and we scored 10/20 in the SQ, although we had 13 on the board, go figure. Table 39 won again. There is little love in the room for them.
It's hard to believe that this time in a fortnight, we'll be back home.
