A long day here. The ship arrived before we woke up. Our original intention was to hit one of the beaches for the morning, have a drink in the Hard Rock Cafe (number 36, thanks for asking) and then come back and explore Oranjestad.
In the event, it rained early on so Rob, Linda, Barb and I met in Raffles and wandered into town. It’s a Sunday and most shops are shut. We found a Starbucks, so I managed to upload my blogs and after a stroll around, we cabbed it to the HRC. A couple of local beers and strawberry mojitos later, oh and a large portion of nachos between us, we grabbed a bus back to the ship. When the Wi-Fi in the HRC finally started working, I was able to download the next level of my game, all 51 iPad apps and all 15 Android apps. Not only that, I was able update to the latest version of iOS too.
At 18:30 the four of us met in Raffles to go ashore and eat. This was the first time ever in all our months of cruising that Linda has joined us for an evening meal ashore. We ate in a restaurant called the Paddock. Our table was outside and overlooked the water. All four of us had garlic shrimp or as the menu said ‘shrimp with a lot of garlic’. The menu didn’t lie!
Back on board, all of us (but Rob who’s suffering with a hernia), did the sports quiz in Champion’s. Amazingly, we got 16/21 (don’t ask). None of us really felt like doing the Syndicate Quiz, so the others went to bed. At 22:00!!!! I went to the theatre to see a Uruguayan guitarist called Nestor Santurio. He was really good.
Another successful port day.
