Second sector, day one. Slightly disappointing day. We hadn't made arrangements for anything and had planned to sort it out on the dockside or in the Tourist Information Office. For one reason or another neither happened. So the girls grabbed a cab to a local mall and we took one to the Japanese Gardens. Apparently, on a Monday all the cultural sites are closed. So we wandered along a polluted river by a slum area to the Botanical Gardens, but couldn't find the entrance! So we decided to grab a cab back and hit a bar instead. It cost us $10 out and $15 back for a shorter distance. In the bar we had a couple of beers and used their free wifi. I was able to update all my phone apps and have a brief Wechat conversation with Javon in Penang. Quick supermarket visit and lunch onboard.
As Rob and I had bought a couple of bottles of Tannat, it seemed churlish not to open one. So we did. We drank it on his balcony and watched the ship movements in the port.
After dinner the three guys took a stroll along the Promenade Deck and looked at all the shipping in the River Plate. We passed a Costa ship pointing upriver, but it wasn't moving, it had no bow wave or wake.
No bottle of wine in the Syndicate Quiz tonight. Because of all the booze sunk in the last couple of days, I'm having an alcohol free day tomorrow.
