So arrived in Chiang mai on the night train 3 hours late!!! Great! Another three hours extra free for me to sit and sweat on the crowded stinking train! I was woken up by the breakfast lady opening my curtain and sticking her head in my cabin and screeching, 'allo darliiing!!!' 'its breakfast time!' 'you want breakfast?' what I wanted was to tell her to f*** off out my face first thing in a morning! But she was so cute I couldn't be mean, just a bit too full of energy :| I think the same goes for most of the Thais there so happy all the time and smiley and want to help :) total opposite of England!
The meal was awfull it was warm and soft and nasty! But cost like £1.20? So who cares! And it was my first cup of tea since getting here, it was soooo good! Usually we've never been up early enough for it to be cool, when we wake up it's gone dinner and boiling outside! Ha
When we got to that station someone was ready waiting for us with a sign and drove us straight to our guesthouse, 'nice place' which made things easier, having to haggle a taxi to somewhere where we dont know would not have been ideal so glad we booked all transfers and everything through our tour operator!
The guesthouse is really nice, it's the cheapest for food ect I've had a sweet+sour chicken meal with rice, a bottle of Chang, a sandwich and two bottles of water since being here and it's cost 85baht which is £1.50!!! It's mental! And it has a pool which is just the right temperature but the jacuzzi doesn't work :( even though our day today was completely taken up by travelling (didn't get to the guesthouse until 5pm in the end!!) i was still straight in the pool and everyone just started talking to us :) instant friends and there all real nice! The weather was odd don't know what it was like in bkk but it was raining when we got here! Only like the most tiniest drizzle though and it was warm! Then after was like a dry thunder and lightening.. Odd!
The walls of the room are paper thin so you can hear absolutely every step of people walking round outside but again who cares il get used to it, if not buy some ear plugs! For the price were paying I'm not going to complain!
Girl from the pool said tonight was the Sunday market so I went thinking it was gonna be the same old tripe you get from Kao San or the floating market and it wasn't! The food was completely different they have all sorts of weird things that caught my eye, like Quail eggs!! Look amazing but daren't buy them in case I vom, need to be on top form for tomorrow in the jungle! Bought some satay pork skewers though for 40p which was for a bag of like 15skewers! And could have bought the whole stall full! :) and they have loads of really fresh squid and all sorts, each stall you walk past you smell something new and amazing i was like, my god I want it!!
