So today was the first day we had free to do nothing all day, our guesthouse in chiang mai has a pool so after we lied in till gone 11 we chilled around the pool trying to tan. It's difficult to tell wether your actually tanning though because even though it's boiling hot and sweaty the sky is almost a bit muggy it's not bright sunshine with no clouds like it is in bkk. So the sunbathing only lasted a couple hours :(
That afternoon I went out for a guided tour with a friend I met, sven. He now lives in chang mai and has been here since january so he knows his way around, me and annie have no idea what there is to do round here! We rode his motorcycle around the city it was so nice, we saw bridges and rivers, places to go eat and drink and it was at dusk so the temperature had just dropped to a nice level and the breeze felt so good!
We went to the shopping mall (with no money left on me) which a slight let down... They had these mini speakers for sale for just under £5 which connect to your iPhone and light up with colour changing led's they were ace! There so loud I could just imagine having a party on the balcony with music blaring out from one and they were like an inch squared! So I'm hoping I can find them somewhere else when I actually have money on me!
Riding in the back of his bike through the city was so cool, I actually really want one now! I've had enough of tuk Tuks haha ;) the scooter drivers are just as mad though they all just swerve around the cars and squeeze into the tightest spaces without caring that there holding up the cars behind them :/ such a quicker way of getting around though... And Sven didn't inform me until we were on our way back that it is actually illegal to ride on a motorcycle here without a helmet on, great! I thought you were allowed as hardly anyone seems to have them on but apparently not... Sorry mr Thai policeman :/
