Today I woke up early and made my way back to Chardonne in the car to pick my parents up from the Bed and Breakfast. They had a great breakfast and then were taken to a good sightseeing spot by the owner that morning. The owner was very kind and gave us a map wth directions to drive along the water and through the many vinyards. This was a real treat as it was sunny and the vinyards were starting to change color. they line the slope which slopes toward the water and there is nothing but vinyards and the small towns in which the owners of the vinyards live and have their pressing rooms. We stopped by chance at a little town called Epesses to see if we could find a wine tasting on a sunday. To our luck, because everything is closed on sundays, we came upon a family working in the pressing room who allowed us to come and watch them press the grapes. I had us smell the crushed red grapes and then invited us into a little room of to the side. He came in with 3 different bottles of white wine, all of which are the regions specialty "Chasslas". He explained to us the different grapes and the growing of the grapes and had us taste each bottle. It was truly an amazing and lucky experience. We got three bottles for the road and then headed back to the car.
Along the way we found some picnic tables just at the edge of town overlooking the lake and all the vinyards so we decided to have a picnic there and enjoy the view and the sun. My parents explored the vinyards a little and then we were back on our way to Vernier to see the house Aline and I are staying at. Frida invited us for coffee and my parents were able to put a face to the owner of the house and now know where we are staying.
After the coffee we jumped on a bus and headed into Geneva to do some shopping and to see the Jet d'eau. Aline met up with us around 6:30, we had dinner in the city center and then walked along the water front with a little after dinner drink, some Kirschlikoer homemade on a farm in Zug ( The woman we live with's family farm).
With a little liquid courage in our blood we decided to go sightseeing in the local up scale hotels along the water. rooms with water views for 14, 000$ a night anyone.
THen it was time for the goodbyes. We dropped my parents off at a hotel near the Geneva airport and as quickly a the weekend started, it was over!
