Sunday January 11th
Verbier Switzerland
Aline and I decided to explore another region of the Swiss Alps on Sunday and after having found a great train ticket & Lift ticket all inclusive, we settled on Verbier. Verbier is probably the better known resort in the french part of Switzerland to attract a richer crowed. It seems to be where the rich skiing folk, whether it be couples or families, go to show off their money on the slopes. The village was interesting, chalets ontop of chalets. Aline described it as if it were a patch of mushrooms growing at the base of the mountain...or maybe its more appropriate to use the term truffles!
Anyways, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and even with the 3 hr travel to get there, we were the first on the slopes. Conditions were good, no fresh powder, but no lack of snow for that matter.
We brought a pic nic along and Aline found us a rock off piste to go sit on while we ate our pic nic. The slope was steep and of course I had to take a picture! I jumped down from the rock and managed to twist my knee. I got the picture but at the same time damaged my MCL ligament in my knee. Nothing serious, I skiied out the day but had to go to the doctor this week cause I couldnt walk the next day. 2 weeks and I am back on the slopes.
We skiied threw the afternoon and then took a break on the side of the slopes to take some sun and have a beer. Definetly the lifestyle of choice, beer, skiing and the Alps.........
