We found out that you can borrow bikes from the city and use them for free during the day. Interesting......Why not?...so we did. We got our bikes, helmets and locks, all free of charge and set off to go "explore". "We" wanted to go along the lake and see the sites and views and maybe run into a vinyard or two. Sure, sounds like a god idea, why not, so we set off to find the lake and follow it east. luckily it was a beautiful sunny day, so no complaints and all were happy for the tart of the trip. There was a little bit of a fight for power at first as to who was going to lead, but I held my ground and set off leading the team. Well that didn't last for very long! first chance Aline got, she passed me with a big smile and never looked back.
I think in all, we did close to 25 km on the bikes. We went from Geneva all the way along the water to Nyon but you wouldnt know you were next to the water because all the property was private and they all put fences or walls up to blok the view. I was ready to turn around and head somewhere more, .......well, with less walls and fences to look at but Aline was fixed in her idea that we were going to go all the way to Nyon and that it was going to get better........ok Boss, whatever you say!
It didnt get any better, but we made it to Nyon. But in all fairness, Nyon was amazing. Smaller city but with lots of charm. Narrow europeen streets that climb and fall in every direction "walled" with beautiful houses. We explored and walked through the city taking in the sights. We also scoped out the train station to make sure whe knew where it was because there was no way either of us were going back the way we came on bike.
Once we were satisfied with our return plans, we went back down to the water in search of the famous fillet of perch. I had read about it and herd that it was very good and that it was a must try....and it was damn good! Perch from the lac leman, some white wine and the satisfaction of knowing we didnt have to bike back.....nothing better!
