Aline and I decided to explore the area around Geneva a little more to see what it has to offer. Geneva is between too mountian ranges, to the north you have the Jura and to the south the Salève. You can cross the border into france from Geneva and then take a gondola to the top of the Salève which over looks Geneva. It was only a 15 minute bus ride and then we were there. The day was beautiful with hardly any clouds. We took the télépherique to the top and the view of Geneva was great. There always sems to be alot of moisture in the air as you can see from the pictures. Geneva gets alot of fog, some mornings you cant see your hand in front of your face.
It was an easy hike along the top of the Salève which is basically a plateau. Then we got our first glipse of the Alps. Mont Blanc was very clear and not far off at all. It was great to see the alps full of snow on a clear sunny day. We found an open field and set up for our picnic overlooking the Alps. It was a perfect afternoon!
After lunch we started down the mountain on foot. It was a fun hike down and we went really quickly passing many slower hikers. Aline was proud of this feat and she once again showed her great hiking form as she raced down the mountain laughing the whole way. I would more describe it as a controled fall rather than hiking! Always amazes me that she gets down in one piece!
