Wow, in our last blog I commented on how old places were getting as we headed south. Well today I think we topped anything we may see in the future, well the signage would suggest that. We visited a place today called La Roque Saint-Christophe, it is a place that housed humans in the cliff face from 50,000 years ago right up until the middle ages. The site is one kilometre in length and five terraces high, they say it could of housed up to one thousand people. Unfortunately due to wars a lot of it has been destroyed, but there is very clear evidence of where houses etc were. They have also recreated some places to give you a feel for how it was. Just down the road a bit there is another place called Maison Forte De Reignac, it is a fortified residence that is seven hundred years old, also built into the cliff that has had housing of some sort there for twenty thousand years. The best thing about this place is it wasn't destroyed in any wars and has been restored/preserved brilliantly and furnished with pieces from its era, just stunning. Unfortunately our photos won't convey either place properly, but if you want to know more, Google it!
Tomorrow we hope to see some cave painting and carvings that date back to twenty five thousand years BC.

Mum/Marion Wow Mike, you sure are having a Mind Blowing Trip ! How much more can you take ??? Looks as if you are on tract for Valencia ? Thanks for taking time to share it with us all, albeit photos & blog. Great stuff.
Janet McIntyre Wow! That IS a lot of history. Amazing! Fascinating too. Makes you feel young, hey? Photos may not give the whole story, but they will give an idea - and I would sure want to try too!
