Today was a rough day overall. We woke up to the sound of rain on our tent. Fortunately it was short lived. On the positive side it was 57 degrees which felt warm compared to previous mornings. Riding through Malibu was disappointing as the lack of a bike lane made it difficult to enjoy the views. South of Malibu the Santa Monica freeway was heavily congested which made the biking dangerous. We enjoyed the bike path through Venice Beach. The bike path along the spillway was inro a heavy wind and populated with homeless encampments on both sides of the path. An ugly scene and potentially dangerous. Tonight we are staying at the Ocean Surf Inn & Suites, a nice little hotel one block from seal beach.
