Today we made it to our southern border. We used the Flagship Coronado ferry to get across the bay. It was bike paths and residential roads to the end. One dilemma we had was when we neared the end the road had areas with pools of water. Some of us turned back not wanting to bike through the potentially contaminated stagnant water. Most of us went through to the park. It looked abandonded except for the two border patrol cars parked near the wall. The park was elevated providing a nice view of San Diego in the far distance and Tijuana in the other direction. On the way back we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. Our son, Jason, picked us up and took us to his home in Lakeforest. Ironically, on I-5 we passed the Adventure Cycling van and trailer with a new driver heading on to the next adventure.
