Hi Everyone,
Soo.. we haven't updated the blog as much as we'd have liked since we've left Krabi so just to give you the low down since last Friday's blog:
Friday 10th - Watched Thai boxing in the evening - was fun although the boxer's "ritual" before the fights went on for so long that we only stayed for five fights, which was plenty, however we did have ringside leather sofa seats which was pretty cool and meant we saw all the action "Hiighh Yaaa"!
Saturday 11th - We did Kayaking and elephant trekking (pictures already uploaded) which was great, we kayaked through the "Mangrove" jungle where we saw monkeys and lizards and then we had lunch at a really authentic Thai hut (in the middle of nowhere!). Elephant trekking was fantastic, and something that both me and Danny have never done before - the only way I could describe them is to say that they feel like that soft tarmac you get in parks/school playgrounds?! Was a little scary too as we went through a river on them and then up into the jungle with loads of slippery mud!! Got to feed them bananas and then watch them have a wash in the river on their own which made the day really special!
Sunday 12th - We packed up our gear and drove the rental car back to Phuket, stopped off at a secluded beach to have lunch and then arrived back at the Villa around 5pm. We then went out for dinner with Bill to a lovely fish restaurant on the beach where we (Danny and Bill) picked our own fish from the tanks for dinner. Afterwards we had a Thai massage to end the evening however, both Danny and I got a little bit more than we bargained for when they tried to pull our pants off lol - the woman kept saying to me "no worry - we have same"! Danny also thought a bit of hanky panky was going on in the massage bed next to him and described it as more of a brothel than massage parlour ha ha!
Monday 13th - Had a really bad ear in the night and hardly slept so went to the doctors - have a swollen and inflammed ear drum and am on x3 lots of different tablets(me and my ears eh!?) Once I got back from the doctors, Bill then dropped us off at the pier to catch the ferry over to Koh Phi Phi - we arrived about 4.30pm (takes an hour and half to get over) the tour guides were trying to get us to buy our stay in a hotel via them however we'd done a bit of research and knew they we're all quite pricy. We decided to walk along the beach and find one for ourselves, however it was absolutely swealtering with our back packs on (and the fact that I'd got chilly on the boat and had black leggings on as well as a skirt) Anyway we eventually arrived at the "Sand Sea View Resort" which is right on the beach and 30 pounds cheaper a night than what the tour guides quoted us! (Pictures of beach bungalow in Phi Phi album) Once we got settled we did a bit of exploring and had dinner at "Bora Bora" restaurant which is on the beach.
Tuesday 14th - Our first day of sunbathing on the beach in over two weeks!! Has made us feel as if we are actually on holiday and we managed to get quite good tans for only a couple of hours out in the sun. We went to a beach party in the evening at "Hippies Bar", which again is just on the beach - chilled had a few drinks and then watched all the drunkens doing the limbo and then a fire show (not performed by the drunkens)
Wednesday 15th - We went on a a boat trip to "Maya Bay" where Leonardo Di Caprio filmed that film "The Beach", all the islands were stunning and water clearer than we've ever seen! Met some great couples from Ireland and Liverpool who all came back to our bungalow to have a swim at our part of the beach we were staying on. Danny and the gents from the couples than all had a game of footie with the local Thai boys (as he had also done the night before on his own - pictures uploaded) We then met up with the couples for dinner and all enjoyed fish n chips in the local English bar which was soo tasty and reminded us of home! Went onto the reggae bar then where we watched more drunkens participate in Thai boxing (so they could win a bucket of Samsong (Thai Whiskey and coke) - this was hillarious as the boys taking part where flying around the ring.
Thursday 16th - Have done more sunbathing today and have arranged to meet up with our friends from yesterday in Koh Samui, where they are arriving a day after us (one of the couples are also travelling through Malaysia and up through Australia, so we are sure we'll bump into them again on our travels) Just had Paella for dinner and are going to head back for a swim in the sunset.
All in all we've thouroughly enjoyed Phi Phi islands - it is alot more "party Phi Phi" than "peaceful Phi Phi" but there is a great balance and we would recommend a visit. We're catching the ferry back to Phuket tomorrow, ready for our 9am flight to Koh Samui on Saturday morning- where once we land we're catching the ferry over to Koh Phangan where we have a bungalow booked and the full moon party on the 21st December to look forward to.
Will update you all very soon, please let us know what you're all up to to on our message board.
Miss and love you all lots.
Chow for Now,
Meika & Danny
