Hi Folks,
Currently in Bali and been up to the following since our last entry:
Wednesday 12th Jan: Did the Singapore Duck Tours in the morning which was quite good, however quite hard to understand our very camp guide and his accent. We then grabbed some lunch and headed to the airport to catch our flight to Bali - we were really lucky and got seats with loads of leg room (piccys to prove, however computer I'm using is too slow to upload them!) Once we got to Bali we met up with our friends Ollie and Kate who were staying in our hotel and checked out the local sports bar - Danny is now obsessed with pool!
Thursday 13th Jan: Had our complimentary massages (thanks to Danny telling the hotel we were on Honeymoon- ha!) We then hired some mopeds and checked out our friends Laura and Lee's hotel, which was just down the road - did some exploring around south Bali and some sunbathing!
Friday 14th Jan: Waterpark! - had a terrifying ride where you step into (something which looks just like a coffin) it then says in your ear, 3,2,1 and a trap door drops beneath you and you fall vertically to the bottom -your heart is literally in your mouth! I really wanted to back out of it but was too embarrassed to walk back past the crowds of queuing people :( In the evening we all had a few drinks in our hotel and a cousin of mine from Ireland; Alan and his girlfriend Jane joined us - we headed into the main bar area of Bali and went to a great club where a live rock band were playing - had a boogie whilst the boys played up rotten!
Saturday 15th Jan: Was a very uneventful, hangover day -managed to do a tiny bit of sunbathing, watched some movies and went to the official "Forrest Gump" restaurant which was called "Buba Gumps" - lovely food but very expensive - 35 pounds for lunch - eeek!
Sunday 16th Jan: Explored Seminyak and Legian, went for a nice Italian for dinner as it was our friends last night in Bali.
Monday 17th Jan: Today! We've said goodbye to Lee, Laura, Kate & Ollie - very sad to see them leave (only been travelling together for 3 weeks but feels like a lifetime!) Has been boiling today so we've tried to get a worthy tan ready for Melbourne on Wednesday.
On the whole Bali has not been what we expected, it's very commercial and expensive and does feel like we're in Benidorm for Ozzies! Have a lovely hotel and good weather, so has been a week to really chill and get some sun - we're both really excited to get to Australia now - off to do some cosmetic shopping now, as we've heard it's a lot dearer to buy Danny's bubble bath and wrinkle cream in Oz lol!
We hope January has not been to unkind to you all and look forward to seeing you all in March when we get back.Update you from Melbourne!!
Chow for Now,
Lots of Love,
Meika & Danny
