On Wednesday we packed up and moved to a new hostel where we were to meet the group for our tour! We found a few of them in the bar and later met the group leader. We are all about the same age and all get on really well which is good.
Yesterday we all went to Tian'men square. It was the first day of good sunshine, no smog for once. We were hoping to see a demonstration but the army are everywhere keeping people under control. Was disappointed not to see any tanks though.
We went on the Forbidden City, which has many temples, however, we could not access most because of renovation work. It was interesting, with really pretty gardens, but the most exciting part of the day was when Met ate a Scorpion on a stick in the local market for lunch - nice. He said it tasted like a crispy chip.
We went out in the evening with the group for a meal and a few drinks in the bar. Drinking games learnt at uni came in handy. I think we are planning on going to a Chinese club tonight so that should be an experience.
We are leaving for the Great wall Tour tomorrow so not sure when we will be able to update the page. We are also having problems having uploading more photos at the mo so we try to when we can.
