Passing from Cambodia to Thailand was a strange journey. The road between Siem Reap and the border has been a work in progress for the last 10 years. Strangly it has tarmac on in parts and yet they seem to be spreading mud and dirt on top. Because of this we spent most of the journey sliding around in the car on the mud. After leaving Kep we spent the whole day on a bus which was a bit crazy. The buses just drive as fast as they can (probably reach 50 mph at times) but when there is veicles coming in the other direction and only room for the width of one it gets a bit mental. Another v. early morning and soon we arrived in Kep - a small sea side town which hasn't awoken in years. From here we caught a 'private' boat to Rabbit Island and after we had got on the driver seemed to invite the whole town along for the ride. We arrived in Kampot yesterday and found a sleepy town that clearly doesn't get many tourists. The hostel we are staying in is mentioned in the lonley plannet as the liveliest place in town and that is saying something - it has about 10 people max in the bar in the evening. Arrive in Sihanoukville 30/4. It is right on the coast and the hostel we stayed in was about 1 min walk - Billiant! The first night we walked down to the beach and sat in a cool bar with swinging seats and jazzy music. The Beach is lined with Cafes and bars and has a really nice feel to it.
