27/03 We set off for the Longji Valley where we were going to stay up in the mountains for a few nights. They Bus took us so far, but we had to hike for about 40 mins up through the rice terraces to get to the guest house.
The View immense...you could see rice terraces for miles. They are all man made and staggered down the mountain - it must of taken hundereds of years!
The next day we set off on a 4hour hike across the mountains to another village. Hard work! This village was a lot bigger with lots of tourists but still really nice. The downside was that everywhere you looked there was construction work on new hotels - kinda ruins what people come to visit - a rural village.
In the evening we watched a minority show. However they made us
(the group) sing to them in return - i think they regretted that! hehe
On the last day (29/3) we did a short hike in the morning. We came to a village and though we could have lunch, but there were only houses there. This family invited us in for dinner....so we all went in. It was really cool! we had local rice wine (which is about 56% proof) and lots of rice. Very random experience.
We caught our last overnight train with the group to Hong Kong. The tour has gone so fast, but we both have had a fab time so far....lets hope it goes this well when we are on our own! x
