Day 26 - Undara Lava Tubes
Today started out with a little bit of bad luck - the car won't start! We called the RACQ and had to pack up the tent while we waited for him to arrive. Unfortuantely, when he got to us around lunch time, he couldn't get the car started - it needs to be towed to Atherton to be fixed.
So, we booked in for an extra few nights and went on the Lava Tubes tour as planned. The Lava tubes were created whent he nearby vulcano erupted around 190,000 years ago adn the lava flowed into the creek beds and formed a crust, which the lava continued to flow through. There are around 65 lava tubes in the area, some over 1km long.
The tubes were went through we around 14m wide and 11m high, and we saw microbats inside. There were very cool.
After the tour, we had to set the tent up again! Very frustrating given we hadn't actually moved anywhere.
We watched the State of Origin match in the bistro after tea.
