Once again me and ellie have changed our flights because after returning from the barrier reef trip that we totally loved, we knew Bob Dylan was playing in Brisbane and the humpback whales are with their calfs @ Hervey bay, so at the drop of a hat we put our flight back 1 month extra and we are now flying out the 1st September, we had about 12 hours before our flight was to leave Oz so we phoned Quantas and thankfully we are now 2 Bob Dylan tickets up and ready to head for Brisbane on monday to see the legend himself, im well happy about seeing the whales for sure, Hervey bay is the whale watching capital of the world, the thing is we have to work again starting tomorrow but just until sun night then its Brisbane here we come !!!!!, let me tell you about the barrier reef trip, it was superb, i can see why its admired by the world, its got so much natural wonder, we payed $150 each and that was onboard the silversonic boat, it was a right gucci vessel which holds about 30 peops and we travelled to the Agincourt reefs which lay on the continental shelf of the coral sea which is known as the outer barrier reef, it goes from about 10-20 metres deep to 1-2 km
, the outer reefs are supposed to be the best for colours and bright fish etc and it was true, we had 3 dives and all where class, the wind was about25-30 knots but the reef system stops a lot of swell breaking near us and the visibility was amazing, on the way out i was hoping to see whales enroute and as we where powering along the captain cut the engine and explained that whales where at the from of the boat, we all jumped up with camera's at the ready, we did see fins and spouts of water but it was in the distance and didnt manage to see them breaching or upclose, so thats what im hoping to see at Hervey bay, the day flew by and before we knew it we where back on the bus home to Cairns, the trip left Port Douglas (the place we worked for a month).
Me and ellie also done the Kuranda scenic railway the other day along with the skyrail back to Cairns, the views again where awsome and on the night we watched an aboriginal cultural show to try and understand a bit of culture- it turned out to be far from it and we where dissapointed at the end, it was about $90 each also which i thought was expensive but if it was worth it fair enough, so guys our next journal will be from Brisbane after seeing the Bobster in action, i hope he plays some old school music, we where gonna drive down but in the end we payed $280 for return flights, we where gonna hitch a ride down but its 1700km+ and if we didnt get far enough down we would be narked so flights it was, right im off to the hostel, have a butchers at my photo's dudes.
