Our first time down under, sunny sunny oz; after a long flight we walked out of the airport to RAIN!! Torrential rain!! We caught the bus to our hostel and quickly realised just how expensive things in Australia really are. Our room consisted of a double bed and a fan, we couldn't use the air con as it sounded like a train and it was a shared bathroom. The same priced room in Asia would of been a 5* hotel so it was quite a shock. On the up side we got a free meal at the wool shed pub which was actually pretty tasty and it just so happened that it was ladies night and they were giving out free Champagne to all the girls so we ended up staying in there all night. We managed to win two free trips to a deserted island and a two for one scooteroo trip, which is a group of you going round town on chopper bikes with fake tattoos and leathers, so all in all it was quite a good night. The weather on the other hand was awful, when it rained the streets were flooded and further down the coast in Townsville they had a tornado and 5 people were killed!! So we weren't feeling to impressed with Australia at this point, luckily we had only booked two nights in that hostel and decided to move to another hostel which was so much better and we were paying a similar price for a private double room with a tv, air con and an en suite. The atmosphere was a lot better as well and we met lots of new friends there, also it  had a great pool. Most of our days consisted of chilling in or around the pool, nipping to town getting a few things, then sitting around talking to people. We went on a bar crawl on the Wednesday night which was just like a bar crawl in Greece, and involved lots of nakedness and dancing on stage, and that was just me!! Friday we had booked to go on a diving trip to the barrier reef on the Tusa T6 which was a massive brand new boat. We did three dives in total and sore turtles, sharks, puffer fish, sting rays and loads of other amazing stuff including some awesome swim throughs. I don't think the diving was as good as in Thailand, the fish were bigger on the barrier reef but there was a lot of dead coral and the visibility wasn't as good as in Koh Tao. Our last night in cairns happened to be a Saturday night so we all went out to say good bye and then the next day we got the bus to Mission Beach...
