Mary's Travels
So today was my first day of school... not. I've been nervous since yesterday about classes, and I left a tad late today so I was extra nervous. I got to school and couldn't find the room. Great. So to kill time/ask someone for help, I went up and got my student card (finally). I asked her where my room was, and it turns out it's down this weird hallway with a tiny staircase and through another dimension. I actually found it, which is saying a lot, but when I got there the door was locked and my class wasn't on the schedule. Great. I went upstairs again to see if the class had changed, and after I couldn't find any information I decided to give up. It's my only class on Monday's, and it might have been too difficult for me anyways. I decided to take a wifi break, now that I had my student number. Wifi is one magical thing I'll tell ya. After lingering for a while I started to feel like a burden on the building, so I left and went to Carrefour and picked up some steak and spices and kleenex- all the essentials (I have yet to cook them). After chilling in my room for a while and watching some Netflix to make me feel better about my school dropout, I met up with Celina for lunch downtown. We ate at this amazing restaurant where we both got omelettes the size of France itself. They were amazing, but we had to try so hard to get down even half the meal it was so huge. At lunch Celina informed me that the class won't start for at least another week, that's why we had trouble finding it today (apparently she missed it too). So
my failure wasn't really a failure after all, phew!
I rushed from lunch to the train station to meet my gradeschool friend Melissa and her boyfriend Carl who were touring Europe for winter break (so cute!). We walked around the downtown area for a while, and went into Saint Maurice (a church) and then stopped for some warm drinks and snacks. We got hot chocolate and waffles with ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream, SO GOOD WOW. I'm getting really fat here dang it. After chatting for a while, we went around shopping for a bit. Melissa and Carl kindly put up with me buying school supplies. We walked around Eurolille (a big shopping center) until they had to take their train back. We walked to the station and they left, it was so great to see them!! :)
I felt very cool and figured out how to get home on the subway and was very excited to take a shower until I found a very large and very unpleasant surprise in there... I don't want to shower ever again. And now my real first day of school nerves begin...
