Mary's Travels
We set off at 8:00am on a four hour bus ride from Avignon to Nice, a much more Italian town. We saw the Bay of Angels, our first glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea from the bus. We arrived at the hotel and changed into our swimsuits. After being trapped in the sketch stairwell, we walked to the beach and picked up a panini on the way. Rocks are not comfortable. It was ALL rocks. No sand at all. It was really weird. We went in, but it was a little cold and the rocks at the bottom hurt even more. It was so difficult to get out that we all had to crawl. We decided to lay out in the sun instead. We were too lazy to get towels, so we just laid out right on the rocks. After you get situated though, it wasn't too uncomfortable. Then Mrs. Dreas and Madame came over to say hi and Mrs. Dreas wanted to dip her feet in the water. Knowing how difficult it was for us, Amelia and I held her hands, but before we knew it she fell, right into the water. It was hilarious, and she was a great sport about it. We got some pictures with the two of them, and they left. We tanned some more, but the rays wouldn't get to us because we were covered in salt from the dried up water. So, Amelia and I went to go get some smoothies. We had a nice stroll around Nice by ourselves and the weather could not have been better. We went back to the hotel to shower for dinner where my table got a sparkling white wine (but not champagne). It was a nice meal and we all took a stroll to get gelato afterwards. We went back to the hotel, and Sarah and I got to sleep at about midnight- an early night for us.
