Mary's Travels
We woke up and got a wonderful breakfast then headed out, hopped on a bus, and went to the Vatican. The line was long, but we got to cut everyone with the group. We toured through the museums, which were not particularly my favorite, but then we moved on to more exciting stuff like St. Peter's Basilica. After a little modesty fiasco, we made it in and walkedo around as much as we could while being constantly pushed around. Then we went into St. Peter's Square and left. We had a break for lunch, so we got a sit down lunch and shopped at the Vatican gift shop where I spent more money than I did on the entire trip so far. Once in a lifetime, right?? Then we got on a very crowded bus and went to the Pantheon. As one of the oldest buildings in Europe, it was pretty cool. Almost 2000 years old. Then we just hung out in the square outside where I decided to rest and people-watch. Then we headed to another piazza and stopped at a French church along the way. At this piazza, there was the Four Rivers Fountain, representing the Nile, the Rhone, and two others ( I forget). It was really pretty though. We walked around there for a bit and enjoyed the sounds of Italy. Then we walked to another piazza that was more of a shopping center. We stopped along the way to pick up a few souvenirs, but still made it without killing our feet. The stores were interesting in their own way... One was a "one size fits all" store, and let me be the first to tell you that one size does NOT fit all. After that we walked to dinner (basically just backtracked everything). The pizza was good and filled us for our walk to the Trevi Fountain. We made our wishes and Michael took some of us to his secret gelato place. Best gelato I've ever had. Rich dark chocolate with strawberry. Yum. After getting it all over my dress, we went on two more very packed buses and finally made it to the hotel where we CRASHED.
