Very peaceful until the bin men arrive then all quiet for another hour until we get up.
Next major stop on our round trip of Sicily will be the last of the Greek history sites and so as not to get 'templed out' we decide to take a day off in between.
It's also good on longer trips to have a little bit of time apart from each other a Sciacca is the ideal place, as the direct, non-buggy, route from the port to the town involves 250 steps!
Nick has a quiet morning in the picturesque harbour parking while Ali goes to explore.
Sciacca is a town of terraces and staircases. It's past as a ceramics town is evident with many of the staircases having coloured tiling on their risers. There is a muddle of old and new buildings, with a few very new style restaurants. A large piazza gives commanding views over the harbour and out to sea, and elderly men sit in cafes playing card games.
Sciacca was once famous as a spa and therapy town but now, although the locals are very friendly, it appears to accept tourists rather than attract them.
Ali returns to the van with salami sandwiches then we leave Sciacca on a much more direct route than we arrived.
Today we need to service the van so we find an ACSI site near Ribera on the way towards Agrigento. We arrive at Kamemi camping around 14:00 and are welcomed by a friendly, English speaking man. "Ah, English, where you from, London, Manchester?" he asks. Ali tells him southwest England. "Ah, southwest! Devon, Cornwall - nice."
It's a relaxing afternoon after Ali gets a bit of laundry done and nice to have a quiet day in 23 deg reading that England has had snow as far south as Norwich.
