Another really warm morning. As we are using the service point workmen are putting up signs. They tell us this aire has only been here a month. The waste well has a magic eye and every time anyone walks near it there is a fine spray of water.
We leave and drive up through the piazza. The market has gone but marquees are being erected for some other event.
A twelve mile drive through pretty tree covered mountains brings us to the roadside restaurant I-Lauri, which Nick and Grete visited last week. Today is their wedding anniversary and with ours just over a week back we decide on a joint celebration lunch. Inside is cool and we all choose lamb from the simple menu. Anitipasti is served automatically; a little paysanne style salad, omlette and anchovie on toast. The agnello is more like mutton than lamb, slow roasted on the bone and full of flavour, served with green beans and carrots. We're told the sheep are raised in the sambucco mountains and is known for good quality. Desert and coffee to finish off. All for €14 each.
Ali and Grete buy a few things from the produce shop then we have a marathon 3 miles to Demonte where there is a quiet camperstop ready for starting a scenic route tomorrow.
We loaf about for the afternoon, keeping shaded from the sun in 32C. Ali finds a shop for iced lollies which go down well.
When it cools Ali and Grete look around the old town then with nobody feeling hungry it's an evening drink with a few crisps then bed.
