We leave around 11:00 and drive back through the town, pausing to get some postcards. This morning's section of the coast road is described in books as the most beautiful part of the coast, and it does not disappoint. We stop in a layby above a bay where we can see the road snaking along the cliffs. Ali has a chat with a couple touring in a car. The woman sounds French but knows this area very well so may be more local.
We reach the campsite near Split at 13:00, have lunch then have a relaxing afternoon. The site has its own beach so Nick W blows up his inflatable dinghy and Nick C tows it to the beach behind the wheelchair. Ali and Nick W set off in the boat but the water is shallow and when NW guns the outboard the prop breaks its shear pin, requiring them to paddle it back for repairs.
Ali swims while Nick + Grete go off in the repaired boat then we head up to the site shop for ice-creams.
In the cooler evening Nick uses the smooth tarmac paths to have a good long walk. On return NW is washing the salt off his boating gear. As we are chatting he immerses one of the life-vests in the bucket of water. There is a boom-hissssss! and the bucket is instantly filled with the now inflated [automatic] life-vest. It take a while to stop laughing.
We sit out for dinner then go to the beach for a look at the bay in the dark.
In the night there is a huge thunderstorm with torrential rain.
