Motorcycling in the shadow of the moon
Day 2. Reston, Virginia.
What a day! Spent over 5 hours at the airport, collecting our bikes. This included over 1.5 hours at the US Customs Office convincing the Customs Officer that we didn't need to pay $600 each for a Temporary Import Bond, and about 2 hours unpacking the bikes from the crates in 31 degrees heat. However, we got there in the end, and both bikes are working fine.
Also went to Walmart to stock up on everything from lithium ion batteries to bananas.
Just got back from dinner. The nearest restaurant was only 200m away, but we had to ride for 15mins on the bike to get there. Only in America. They need some better transport planners!
Here's hoping for a slightly less stressful day tomorrow.
Distance: 40 miles.
