The afternoon progressed at the pub- we got chatting with a few locals sitting in the "Reserved - Knitters Corner". Incidently, the sign was put up as a joke. The recipients of the joke, were not impressed and were never seen again. Alexi sat at the knitters corner was keen to talk to us. She was 66 or 76 year old depending on who she told. She reminded me of Clint Eastwoods mum in 'Every which way but lose' film, and another great character. She is a stornch believer of standing by your man and a pommy lover.
Eventually she stood up and said that she wanted to show us her house. Drinks were left as we progressed out of the pub, every step, clothes line or other 'possible' obstacle was pointed out prefixed with "watch the ...". Unexpectidly we were led to her car and drove 100 meters before arriving at her house. Alexi was proud of a very well kept garden full of artificial and real flowers, wallabies are public enemy number 1 she explained.
We were led through the house to the patio whilst she kept checking that we hadn't taken our shoes off. Had a small glass of water whilst she told us what to see, before she insisted on taking us back to the pub (only been there 5 minutes). She was very sweet, kept thanking us for the company.
Back at the pub Dave was knocking them back like there was no tomorrow, whilst we took the good faith pommy bashing comments from Jo and Oscar.
Oscar looked about 70 with an even larger white beard than Bushy Dave. He had escaped a party where he said he was the youngest. The escape was short lived, a phone call to the pub and the message "get your arse back here" put an end to his fun.
Jo had a strange fixation with toilets. During a conversation she asked me if we have flush toilets in England. Ever since the Romans I replied not knowing if she was being serious or not. Going by what she said afterwards I thought she was being serious (hasn't been out of Aus). Time to go.
After a lie down in the tent, I went back to the pub to retrieve Liz who was now sitting outside the closed pub with Kyle, Bruce and Michael that we met on the first night. The retrieval took longer than expected.
