Checking into the very posh for us Monte Carlo hotel on the Vegas strip. This is so we can be in the same hotel as Liz's sister and husband (Claire and Andrew) that have come out to see us.
We are currently killing time by the pool until we can either get into the room or it is time to pick Claire AKA 'Clure' up from the airport. We are also trying to recover from an enormous burger we had at lunch.
The blog picture is from our room on the 28th floor, poor old Liz doesn't know what to do with herself we are not used to things being so nice.
The price of the beer at the hotel even with happy hour was a bit painful. We headed off to O'Sheas that had a whole day happy hour. The route took us through the Bellagio, an incredible palace to gambling with the famous 250ft fountains that perform to music.
O'Sheas is a no frills casino where the in game is pub pong - you have to get a ping pong ball in the other teams drink, and if successful that person has to drink it. As we were there a band were getting ready to play, the lead singer guitarist had a Jimmy Hendrix look about him. In fact he could play like Hendrix and played his songs to near perfection - this was easily the best band we have seen on our travels.
Of course we are poker players and you can pretty much gamble everywhere in Vegas with the exception of inside the toilets. A poker tournament and the mantra 'when in Vegas' resulted in us playing. A combination of super aggressive play and some some bad hits meant our Vegas poker experience was shorter than we hoped - but hey we played in Vegas.
The poker experience (Liz went out with trip queen flush) did dampen an otherwise excellent day.
