This morning decided not to be such lazy arses getting out of bed and got up and watched the sunrise as we had to be off the boat for our excursion anyway. Such a lovely way to start your day. Boat arrived in Santorini around 7am, Santorini doesn't have a port so the boat was anchored some distance from the shore. Was great to see the island from a short distance the village is on top of a very high mountain and you could see all the white builiding and blue tops of the cathedrals, it is truly just like the pictures and postcard you see. Docked in Mykonos at 7am, got shuttle bus to town, then walked around the town, it started to rain, and we got well n truly lost!! Haven't seen rain for a while, took some recognising lol. All the buildings are white washed and they have these funny looking windmills with thatched roofs, lots of hanging gardens over the white wash with very colourful flowers, which makes a lovely contrast to the very brown and barren hills. Got up at 7am, had breakfast room service style as had a tour booked and had to be off boat smartly. Left for orgainised tour of Athens around 8ish. We had a guided tour of the Parthenon and acropolis hill, was interesting to see how they are patching up the broken bits of marble they make casts and then laser it into shape. Had a sleep in, really good, as boat didn't dock into Crete til 10am. Got off boat and went into town via bus transfer. Another hot and sunny day 35oC. Found an internet cafe really cheap 1euro per hour compared to the boat where is extremely expensive and slow.
