This morning decided not to be such lazy arses getting out of bed and got up and watched the sunrise as we had to be off the boat for our excursion anyway. Such a lovely way to start your day. After breakie it was off the boat and onto a bus for our guided tour of Ancient Olympia, had a fabulous guide who told us lots of history on the 40min drive to the site of the Ancient Olympics. Was very interesting place, we were shown the site where the olympic torch is lit and the journey begins to the games. Lots of ruins remain here, where only men competed in the olympic in the nude - believe it or not, some events were in full armour as it was mainly soliders who competed, and no women or children were allowed to watch the competition, they waited outside for the medal ceremony to be held. The games as we know now are a little different, much more disciplines, in those days it was running, spear throwing, wrestling amongst a few others. The stadium still exists where they ran it is 192metres long and doesn't go in a circle as we know it, Mark ran the length of the field amongst many others. After this we had a guided tour of the museum very interesting. Then we were taken into the city for a look around managed to pick up a couple of tops for the boys. Enjoyed a drink while waiting for our transfer back to the boat. Once back on the boat it was the usual, swim, spa, read and relax before dinner and then the nightly show, what a hard life. Was an Indian night in the cafe, all food was curries, popadoms, dahl, roti bread, onion bahjis etc.
